How will the summit accommodate neighbor island participants?
We recognize that it can be challenging and cost prohibitive for our neighbor island participants. OHE will offer a package deal for our neighbor island participants for the first 90 neighbor island participants to register. You must, however, choose the full package deal. We will not be able to accommodate individual arrangements. If you do choose this option, your information will be requested in the Eventbrite registration and OHE will contact you with further details.

In addition, the Pālehua kiaʻi has offered to provide an evening huakaʻi and share the moʻolelo of the Pā located by the camp. Details will be shared when you arrive to Camp Palehua for those that would like to join.

For HIDOE and charter employees or students, OHE will cover:
- Round trip neighbor island airfare leaving Friday evening, May 5 at approximately 5 pm and returning Saturday evening at approximately 6 pm (times are dependent on the flights offered). OHE will book the flights to get everyone in at a similar time. If you choose alternate times to travel, you must arrange your own travel and cover the costs.
- Shuttle service: 1) from Honolulu International airport to overnight accommodations the evening of May 5 at approximately 7:30 pm, 2) from overnight accommodations to Waianae High School the morning of Saturday, May 6 at approximately 6:45 am, and 3) from Waianae High School to Honolulu International Airport after the summit ends on May 6 at approximately 3:45 pm. If you choose to rent a car, you must arrange for yourself and cover the costs.
- Overnight accommodations at Camp Palehua the evening of Friday, May 5. Accommodations are rustic, bunk bed style. Bring a pillow, bedding (sheets or sleeping bag), and a towel. You will be allowed a free checked bag to travel.
- Light dinner upon arrival to Camp Palehua.
- Camp Pālehua is on private property and does not allow public access.
For non-HIDOE employees, OHE will cover:
- All of the above, excluding airfare. When purchasing your airfare, you must arrive in time to catch the shuttle from the airport to Camp Palehua. You will receive an email with exact shuttle times after you register.
